NCEA Equestrian at Arizona State University

Dear AHJA Member,

AHJA has many focuses for our members outside of just point keeping for year-end awards. One of our major focuses is education. AHJA is incredibly supportive of higher educational pursuits through colleges & universities. We feel it's important for our members to also know about opportunities to continue riding while in college if you are planning to stay in-state & to give some updates on what's happening. Arizona State University in particular is looking to join forces to start an NCEA program, and needs the help of our hunter/jumper community here in Arizona. Below is a letter from Melissa Felder, who is heading up the establishment of the NCEA program at ASU.

Please take a moment to read this letter and if you can provide support, reach out to Melissa directly.

Thank you,

AHJA Bord of Directors.

Letter from Melissa:

Hello everyone!

As many of you are aware, I, along with Ray Anderson, Tom O'Mara and Rachel Jansen Jones have been advocating to establish NCEA Equestrian at Arizona State University.  I am eager to share that we have been given the go ahead to begin moving forward with the assistance of our equestrian community.

I am reaching out today to you all in the hopes of identifying and establishing a core charter committee of those who would like to help increase awareness, raise the funds necessary, and surround this program with the support needed.  I am confident and believe this is well within our reach to make happen. We have a large equestrian community here in Arizona and many of our college bound youth would be eager to ride as an ASU Sun Devil. This opportunity provides our local athletes more opportunities to continue to grow and compete in D1 college athletics.

Please contact me directly at 602-326-8465 or asuequinencea@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about opportunities in helping move this program forward for our young athletes.  I am planning a meeting in the near future where we can discuss, in detail, what is required by the NCEA to bring this to fruition.

I would like to thank ASU's athletic director Ray Anderson and Tom O'Mara Co-chair of the NCEA National Advisory Board for their continued efforts and support in helping us make this dream for our riders a reality.

I am very excited at the possibility of making this happen and I look forward to hearing from those of you that have already expressed interest!

GO DEVILS!

Melissa Felder
