The AHJA Board has decided to cancel the awards banquet on January 10th, 2021, due to restrictions imposed by the COVID pandemic. To keep everyone safe, we'll have an awards pick-up in the Phoenix metro area sometime in January. More information on the date, time and place will follow. Our president Betsy Checchia will distribute the awards for Tucson trainers and riders. It would help us tremendously in organizing the awards if you would send us a list to email@example.com of your horses and riders who are receiving year-end awards. You can find a complete list of year-end awards on the AHJA website at ahja.org. On the main page, click on "Year End Awards" at the top of the page to see the final standings.
We'll have all the awards packaged up for each horse or rider and consolidated for each trainer. We'd like one person to pick up all the awards for each trainer, if possible. Unfortunately, we won't be able to include perpetual trophies, but everyone will receive their ribbons and prizes (coolers, etc.). Those who have won Zone 8 awards will receive them directly from USHJA. If you'd like to get your riders together with their awards and take some photos, you can upload them to the AHJA website.
Awards for horses and riders who aren't working with a trainer will be packaged up individually and available for pickup, but this whole process will be easier if we can keep the number of individuals coming to pick up awards to a minimum.
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions. We are hoping to be back to normal for the banquet in 2022. We wish everyone a Happy Holidays and stay safe!
