Deadline for early reservations is December 15th! Seasons Greetings! It is hard to believe that another show year is already over and it’s time for another AHJA Awards Banquet. The 2008 show season came to a close with the AHJA Medal finals held in Tucson during the Tucson Fall Classic. Congratulations to this year’s Medal Finals winners; AHJA Mini Medal – Alexa Avila, AHJA Children’s Medal – Emily Gran, AHJA Adult Medal – Michelle Hale, and AHJA Jr/Am Medal and High Score Award recipient Sybil Rose. All riders performed at their best and the AHJA wishes to congratulate them and their trainers on a job well done. Special thanks to Greenway Saddlery, Melissa Duven and Remington Hill Farm, the Southwest Fair Commission and the Tucson Fall Classic for your help and sponsorship of the Medal Final Classes. This year, AHJA is giving discounts if the Year End Awards Banquet reservations are made early. The banquet will be held once again at the beautiful DoubleTree Paradise Valley Resort in Scottsdale on January 17, 2009. All AHJA members will be receiving their invitations in the mail. Reservation forms can also be downloaded from the AHJA website (www.ahja.org). The silent auction which will be held during the banquet needs your donations. AHJA is asking each barn to contribute a ‘barn basket’. The barn baskets can be filled with any thing that might get a good bid! Choose a theme – such as Movie Night for the Family, a Spa basket for horse/rider, etc. Anyone who wishes to donate their products or services can contact Stephanie Cope at 602 738-8504 or any AHJA board member. Contact information for board members can be found on the website. The Chronicle of the Horse magazine will be publishing photos of all the AHJA Champions of 2008. To have your photo included in the magazine, please submit the original to the AHJA office by January 5th. The mailing address to the AHJA office 15560 N. Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. #B4-205, Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Please note that the AHJA office must receive your photo by January 5th to be included – so don’t wait! Let’s show off all of Arizona’s winning horses and riders! Winners of the perpetual trophies from the 2007 Award’s Banquet are to be returned before January 16th so that they may be presented to this year’s winner. The trophies can be returned to any of the AHJA Board members. The AHJA website has been updated with the current point standings. Any discrepancies must be submitted in writing, via regular mail or email by December 15th. Last, but not least, it’s time to renew those AHJA Memberships! Forms are in the mail, or can be downloaded from the website and mailed in. Anyone who renews their membership before the banquet will be eligible to participate in a drawing for a $100 Mastro’s gift certificate! Have a safe and wonderful holiday season!
