Updates from AHJA
Although it is almost summer and the rated shows are done until fall, your AHJA board is still hard at work. First of all, the 2009 AHJA Medal Finals will be held this year at the Arizona Season Finale I on November 13th, 2009. This year marks the return of the medal finals to Scottsdale for the first time in four years. There is still plenty of time to qualify for this year’s finals at the fall shows. Please be sure your membership is current in order to qualify.

Secondly, AHJA will be hosting its second annual USHJA sponsored clinic Oct. 10-11 at Los Cedros Equestrian Facility in Scottsdale. This year’s clinician will be renowned trainer and judge Julie Winkel of Reno, Nv. Cost of the clinic will be $375.00. Please contact Debbie Jamsa at Debbiejamsa@happysdreamranch.com for more information or to register.

This year’s winner of the Bill Jorgensen Memorial Education Fund will receive a space in this year’s clinic. To apply for the Bill Jorgensen Memorial Fund please contact Wendy Johnson at Ranchodecano@aol.com.

Mark your calendars now for January 23rd, 2010 for the 2009 AHJA Awards Banquet. This year’s banquet will be held at the Venue in Scottsdale. The Venue, formerly the Cajun House, is located in Old Town Scottsdale and promises to provide a fun and unique setting for this year’s banquet. As always, the Silent Auction will be held at the banquet, so start collecting those donations. Let’s make this Silent Auction the biggest and best ever. Donations can be anything everything - from gift certificates to trips to spa services – you name it! Contact any board member for more information.

On April 27th Arizona lost one of its dearest treasures in the equine world with the passing of Pearl Templin. Condolences to Sherry and Henry. She will be sorely missed by us all.
